Listen to pop-up talks and view zines by adult literacy students, who will share reflections on art, the environment, and our changing city. This special gallery experience showcases the creativity of adult basic education and high school equivalency students enrolled in classes at Family Health Centers at NYU Langone, Project Reach Youth. 
In the weeks leading up to this event, the participants discussed works in our collections and exhibitions, including <a href="https://www.brooklynmuseum.org/exhibitions/hiroshige-murakami" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Hiroshige’s 100 Famous Views of Edo (feat. Takashi Murakami)</a>, and responded to these discussions by creating zines. 
The Brooklyn Museum’s art-making partnerships for adult literacy students grew out of a 2021 collaboration with ESOL teacher Caryn T. Davis.

Takashi Murakami)</a> in an American Sign Language (ASL) tour led by a Deaf teaching artist. After a brief meet-and-greet, immerse yourself in mid-nineteenth-century Edo (today’s Tokyo). Experience the vibrant city’s beauty and hotspots through the eyes of ordinary people in Hiroshige’s prints.

Takashi Murakami)</a> led by Jessica Murphy, a fragrance historian and Manager of Group Experiences at the Brooklyn Museum. The Museum’s complete set of Utagawa Hiroshige’s 100 Famous Views of Edo, a meticulously executed and beautifully preserved series of prints, is one of our greatest treasures. The series’ vivid colors, innovative compositions, and rich detail evoke daily life in mid-19th-century Edo (modern-day Tokyo), with an emphasis on locations where people gathered to observe the changing seasons.
In this guided tour, we’ll enhance the viewing experience by pairing selected prints with scents specially created by Brooklyn-based <a href="https://joyastudio.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Joya Studio</a>. Using our senses, we’ll reflect on the tension between natural and human-made elements in Hiroshige’s vistas of a rapidly changing city.

Do you care about preserving your healthcare and maintaining access to straight Medicare and NOT some unknown and unknowable "Advantage"-type plan?!
You will have the opportunity to VOTE OUT the Unity Leadership in the upcoming Retired Teacher Chapter election and replace them with leadership that will truly act in our best interests. Voting for Retiree Advocate/UFT is a vote against healthcare changes for retirees! Vote out Unity and tell friends and relatives to do the same.
IN-SERVICE Teachers: While you can NOT vote in the Retiree Chapter, understand that you WILL one day join us and therefore have a chance to use your active&nbsp;vote in your own elections&nbsp;against the leadership that allowed Tier 6 and is weakening your own health care right now!!

We must vote out the Unity Caucus leadership that is willing to change, without our consent, the excellent healthcare we were promised when we retired.
Put a check mark in the box next to Retiree Advocate/UFT on the ballot to vote the entire slate&nbsp;and mail it back using the stamped, self-addressed envelope. Ballots must be received no later than June 13th. If you vote for individual candidates, it will be a wasted vote!
