Police: Gunshots Stemmed From Personal Dispute; Fight Not Linked

Two incidents at Carroll Park Monday unrelated, according to police.

76th precinct police have confirmed that two incidents at Carroll Park on Sept. 16 are not related.

In the afternoon, a fight erupted between a group of young teenagers playing basketball at the park. Police said that this incident is not linked to the gunshots that were fired later in the evening at the park.

The gun incident, according to police, stemmed from a personal dispute, and shots were fired in the air as a scare tactic directed at certain people in the park.

According to police, there are always patrols in the park during school dismissal time. There are also additional cops in the area going between Gowanus and the park.
