Teen Group Growing Red Hook Internet With Mesh Network

'Digital Stewards' working on resilient mesh network in Red Hook.

A group of high school students in Red Hook, known as the Digital Stewards, are working on a way for Red Hook to communicate by computers even if the community loses internet access.

Red Hook Initiatives crew is building a neighborhood wi-fi system which would ready the area should another disaster such as Sandy strike the area, according to a report on Technical.ly.

The students have been traveling the neighborhood to encourage local businesses to add their internet connections to the mesh network, which becomes more resilient the larger it gets.
