Plea Deal Considered for Providence Hogan, Accused PTA Embezzler

Hogan's lawyer said the stolen money will have to be returned

The former PTA Treasurer accused of stealing upwards of $100,000 from the PTA may be making a deal to avoid jail time.

According to a report in the NY Daily News, Hogan's lawyer Stephen Flamhaft said he was "working towards a resolution of the case."

"They're looking for restitution, which I understand," Flamhaft said of the PTA.

He also indicated to the News that the plea agreement "will not require Hogan to spend any time behind bars."

"The PTA is focused on the return of the stolen money," David Pitofsky, a lawyer from the firm Goodwin Proctor, which is representing the parent group pro bono, told the News. "A full and timely restitution will be a condition to any plea."

Hogan, 44, in March to a 22-count indictment that included charges of embezzlement and falsifying records. In late January, she was arrested on charges that she took PTA funds and used them to pay for rent and fertility treatments.

Hogan returns to court on June 27.
