Proteus Gowanus is an art gallery and reading room named after the Greek sea god of change, Proteus. In addition to exhibitions, it also hosts a number of interdisciplinary projects-in-residence and ongoing events, such as the Fixer's Collective, Writhing Society, Observatory and Morbid Anatomy. There also is a study hall that people can join, allowing them to use the galleries and reading rooms for quiet study and work. Proteus Gowanus also has a shop that sells jewelry, educational blocks, books, artifacts and bicycle vests.
