What's happening in and around Carroll Gardens this weekend.

There's never a shortage of events in and around Carroll Gardens during the weekends. Here are a few ideas to get your weekend planning started.

- The Heights Players Theater for Children presents "Little Red Riding Hood," a participation play for children on Saturday, Nov. 9 and Saturday, Nov. 16 at noon.  

- The latest workshop at BIG!NYC Gowanus covers book binding. Artist Shannon Kerner will teach you the basics Saturday at noon

- What better way to combine the experience of New York's diversity and fine cuisine than through the unique stories and expertise that only a grandmother can share? Sweet Savoring Cooking Parties host cultural cooking classes taught by "grandmas". Participants learn to prepare a traditional three course meal in a small setting akin to grandma's kitchen at Ground Floor Kitchen Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

- The OMNI Ensemble kicks off its 31st Season at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music Saturday at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 or $10 for students and seniors. They can be purchased at the door or reserved by calling (718) 859-8649.

- The Glenn Mohr Chorale Presents Ordinary Saints Sunday, 4 p.m. at The Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
