What's happening this weekend in and around Carroll Gardens.
There's never a shortage of events in and around Carroll Gardens during the weekends. Here are a few ideas to get your weekend planning started.
- Head to Brooklyn Farmacy Nov. 24 at 6 p.m. for a lively (and free) evening with John Khoury, author of 'Go Sit on Your Own Stoop: Growing up in Brooklyn in the 1970s.'
- SAT Weekend Bootcamp is for students who do not have time to schedule a full or intensive prep before their test day. This 12-hour SAT prep course takes place at 6 East 16th Street Saturday beginning at 11 a.m.
- Meet your favorite Brooklyn authors and illustrators at the 7th Annual Children's Book Fair featuring storybooks, picture books, graphic novels, and, for the first time, books for young adults. The event is free and takes place at the Brooklyn Museum Saturday at noon.

- Brooklyn gets its first taste of the Hip Tween Dance Party Saturday at 3 p.m. Perfect for kids ages 8-12 who are ready to dance the afternoon away with DJ Misbehaviour at Putnam’s underground club in the Clinton Hill section of Brooklyn. Tickets are just $8 in advance at hiptot.com and $12 at the door. Putnam’s has put together a list of drink and menu specials for the grown ups, who get to hang upstairs.
- The book release party and book signing of 'Inventing the American Guitar' celebrates the 30th Anniversary of RetroFret Vintage Guitars in the Gowanus Section of Brooklyn and the 180th Anniversary of C. F. Martin setting up his guitar shop in New York City. The festivities begin Nov. 23 at 3 p.m. at 233 Butler St.
