Folk Night at Way Station, JuggleFit at Roogla and Toddler Story Time

Events and goings on you won't want to miss.

Good morning Carroll Gardens! It's supposed to be another not-too-hot day with a high of 81 degrees and some clouds. 

Alternate side parking rules are in effect today through Wednesday. The next suspension is Thursday, August 15 for Feast of the Assumption. Friday you're back at the wheel. 

Here's what's happening this week:


Monday

- Hear local small business success stories and learn a holistic approach to disaster recovery and business continuity at Lessons Learned from Sandy today at 5:30 p.m. at the Central Library. Make sure to RSVP (details at the link).

- Today begins the second week of The NYC Makery Pop-up Makerspace at Brooklyn Brainery, "where communities can gather to play with the creative power of digital design and fabrication, physical computing, and computer programming."

- At The Way Station tonight is singer-songwriter/folksy/country night. Show starts at 7.


Tuesday

- Learn to brew with the best at Brewshop 101: Homebrewing Essentials at Bitter & Esters, 6:30 p.m.

There's a Photo Workshop for Parents led by the very talented Antonio M. Rosario. On the up side, it's free. The only catch is you need to head over to Ditmas Park to attend. Make sure to reserve a slot. Details at the link. Milk and Honey Cafe, 10 a.m.

- Cap off your day with Trivia Tuesdays at The Saint Catherine at 8 p.m.

- There's also "Queercore Country," plus jazz, folk, rock and pop at The Way Station tonight beginning at 8. 

JuggleFit will be at the ROOGLAcoffee shop at Smith & Warren for drop-in juggling lessons from 7-8:30 p.m. Learn to juggle in slow-motion with juggling scarves.

Wednesday

- Start (or end) your day at the brand new Barclays Green Market taking place Wednesdays at the corner of Atlantic and Flatbush Avenues from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

- For a laugh there's Dean Street Comedy beginning at 9 p.m. 

- No sure whom to vote for? There's a Brooklyn District Attorney Candidates' Forum at 7 p.m.

- The line-up at The Way Station tonight is:  Matt Benjamin + Sara Syms + Warren Scott Band + The Random Hubiak. Show starts at 8 p.m.


Thursday

Prospect Park Carousel rides will be free all day, every Thursday to children 12 and younger. Children must be accompanied by an adult.   

-Learn to make beer at Brewshop 101: Homebrewing Essentials at Bitter and Esters. 

- For a casual, yet enriching activity for the lazy weeks before school starts, teens can head to the Cobble Hill Think Tank at 274 Court St., for a "drawing class for idle teens." Lessons combine individualized instruction and group discussions, and are guided by the interests and goals of each student, from serious artists to cartoonists and doodlers. Classes are Monday through Thursday from 1-4 p.m., $300 per week, or  $80 per session. 

The House featuring Samantha Browne + The Howling Monkeys +The House play at The Way Station tonight beginning at 8 p.m. Note that the second House is different from Samantha Browne's group.
