Flash Flood Warning Until 3:00 P.M.

Excessive runoff from today's heavy rainfall will pound the city and southern New York.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a flash flood warning for all five boroughs until 1 p.m. today due to heavy morning thunderstorms.

“Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots,” a NWS alert said.

The NWS recommends that residents in the affected areas move to higher ground immediately and take immediate precautions to protect life and property.

Do not try to cross flowing waters of unknown depth by automobile or foot. If you must evacuate, turn off utilities and disconnect electrical appliances.
