Many of us will sit down with family and friends on Thanksgiving Day to enjoy a festive feast, but many others around Brooklyn may not.
While most, if not all, volunteer positions on Thanksgiving Day are already filled, there are still many families and need. Many organizations are in need of non-perishable and other food items, and it’s easy to donate around Brooklyn.
- Non-perishable items can be dropped off at your local fire department or police precinct.
- Many local churches will also accept non-perishable items.
- CHIPS soup kitchen in Park Slope's volunteer positions are all filled, but they are still in need of food. Cookies, cupcakes, cooked food canned food and pies can be donated on Thanksgiving during their feast from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Food Bank NYC is always accepting donations, and gifts can even be sent online.
