Heat Slams City, Advisory in Effect Until 6 p.m.

Temperatures above 90 degrees have New York on hazardous weather alert.

With 90-degree temperatures and some serious overhead sun, New York City is experiencing the first real heat wave of the summer season.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures Tuesday are expected to reach 91 degrees in places, with possible thunderstorms forming later in the day.

There is also a heat advisory in effect for New York City until 6 p.m. 

Temperatures are likely to stay in the high 80's and low 90's on Wednesday and Thursday, as well.
