Brooklyn Bridge Pop-Up Pool Will Open Friday!

Sen. Daniel Squadron will cut the ribbon at a ceremony July 6, followed by icy cold dips for all.

After much anticipation and weeks of blog posts on Brownstoner following the progress of construction, the at Pier 2 will have its ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, July 6 at 9:45 a.m.

"Last summer we secured a pool as part of our agreement to move Brooklyn Bridge Park forward," Sen. Daniel Squadron (D-Cobble Hill) told Patch. "And this summer, families can dive right in! The pool is already making a big splash with Brooklyn families—and I'll continue to work with BBP and my colleagues to make the pool and other active recreation permanent fixtures at the park." 

The temporary pool in Brooklyn Bridge Park will exist for at least five summers as part of Squadron's August 2011 agreement to move the park forward, along with and with the support of Councilmembers Steve Levin and . It will include a sand beach with lounge chairs, picnic tables, concessions, showers, and restrooms ().
