WingBar Warriors Recruit For 2013 Season

Carroll Gardens-based NYCMBL team seeks a new infielder, one more outfielder and one more pitcher. Are you their guy?

Searching for your very own field of dreams? Look no further. The "winningest team" in New York City Metropolitan Baseball League history is back on the hunt.

The WingBar Warriors—an 18+ men's wood-bat team in the AA Brooklyn/Queens division of the NYCMBL that call Carroll Gardens sports den The WingBar their club—are searching for some new recruits for the 2013 season.

"Ideally we would pick up one more infielder, one more outfielder, and one more pitcher," says team manager Tom Hiro, who landed two star players mid-season last year that helped take them to the playoffs. "If they can play more than one position that is helpful."

Several teammembers hail from the neighborhood and the entire team celebrates with copious amounts of beer and chicken at the Smith Street watering hole after games, which take place everywhere from the Parade Grounds in Prospect Park, to away games all over Brooklyn and Queens.

The team will meet once a week for practices and scrimmages until the season starts on May 10.

"We're also entering the Spring Break Out Tournament in Yaphank, N.Y. (April 5-7) this year," says Hiro. "So this will be a unique early-spring opportunity to play a lot of baseball. In fact, guys can enter the tournament with us without playing on the team, visa versa, or both."

The next opportunity to try out for the WingBar Warriors is this Saturday, March 16. All those interested should contact Tom Hiro at tomhiro@gmail.com for details. Good luck!
