Islanders Get First Taste Of Hockey In Brooklyn

The New York Islanders don't officially move to Brooklyn until 2015, but on Thursday they hopped on the Long Island Railroad for their first practice at the Barclays Center.

Though not built with hockey in mind, Barclays Center CEO Brett Yormark says that they are ready for hockey with their first preseason game against the New Jersey Devils scheduled for Sept. 21.
"We're very happy with what we have here and I think the fans are going to love it," he said. "There hasn't really been a modification for hockey. We're ready to go."

The center will seat 15,813 for hockey games, and Yormark said there are still a few seating areas they plan to develop.

They are also still working on locker rooms for the team, or what they call the "Islanders campus".
