International School Expands

International School of Brooklyn will offer a sixth grade class next year.

Carroll Gardens’ , which offers French and Spanish language immersion programs for children from nursery to fifth grade, is now accepting applications for a new sixth grade class, set to launch next September.

ISB plans to admit 20 students to the new sixth grade program, and admission will remain competitive. A new English program will also be introduced for those entering students without a proficiency in Spanish or French. Information Sessions for interested families will begin on November 2. The application deadline is December 16.

To help with the planning of the new middle school, ISB has already hired Planning Director Carlos Martínez, though the launch is a year away. Martínez, a veteran of International Baccalaureate in Cardiff, Wales, had been a Spanish teacher for 15 years previously.
