Finger Lickin' Goodwill: Seersucker Hosts Fried Chicken Fundraiser

Proceeds from a dinner on Monday, Feb. 25, will benefit the P.S. 58 Kid's Vegetable Garden.

It's a rare day when you can take pride in tucking a napkin into your collar. So those with a kind heart and a healthy appetite should take note: On Monday, Feb. 25, Seersucker will host its Second Annual Fried Chicken Fundraiser to benefit the P.S. 58 Kid’s Vegetable Garden.

The $50 prix-fixe dinner will feature three courses including an iceberg wedge with candied bacon and buttermilk dressing; Nashville-style Fried Chicken with white bread, potato salad and coleslaw; and rice pudding with pear cremeux, cranberries and black pepper meringues.

Proceeds from last year's event enabled the school to purchase items ranging from plants and seeds, soil, gloves and tools, bird feeders, hoses, and other materials.

In addition to raising money for the P.S. 58 vegetable garden, the restaurant also hosts classes where the kids can learn about the food they’ve grown as well as simple ways to prepare it.
