Farm City Green Edge NYC Sustainability Speakers Series -- Biodiversity

Farm City Green Edge NYC Sustainability Speakers Series

Green Edge NYC is participating in a great new event series in Brooklyn, at The Farm City Chautauqua, which will assemble a series of innovative and diverse events and exhibitions at 61 Local.

Green Edge NYC will be hosting The Sustainability Speakers Series, the second Wednesday of each month featuring a local nonprofit or business that is making a difference in our community. The Series will focus on ways people can get involved in their community to make the city a more sustainable place to live.

May 11th:  Biodiversity and Native Plants

Featuring NYC Wildflower Week Founder Marielle Anzelone

Discover the City’s 25,000 green acres—filled with majestic trees, wildflowers, grasses and ferns— the wild, unplanted thread in the Big Apple’s ecological fabric. Learn what makes a plant native and why local flora is important. Explore how life in the five boroughs means it’s not easy being green, characteristics of urban forests and threats to indigenous flora. We’ll also discuss what you can do, including how to go native in the garden.
