"We couldn't even have imagined the damage this would have caused, the lives it would have disrupted by displacing our children and limiting access to their basic needs."

Borough President Marty Markowitz said in a statement released this evening that he was "relieved."

"If there were to be a charter school at PS 32, the ASD program would lose unique components, which make them the only public school option in NYC for high functioning children with autism," said Markowitz.

For the PS 32 community, it's back to the books.

"Now we, as parents and teachers, can get back to focusing our attention on our children, their curriculum and their enrichment at school," said Bailiff.
