Watch the Governors Island Demolition

Brooklyn resident posts HD video of city's first demolition in over a decade.

A south Brooklyn resident took to the Snapple factory to get some high-quality video of this past weekend's Governors Island demolition, and the footage is actually pretty impressive.

Posting the video on YouTube and Reddit, a reddit user hilariously named reddit_user9001 posted the video shortly after Sunday morning's controlled blast.

It was the first controlled demolition in the city since 2001, according to the New York Daily News.

The building brought down was a former apartment building, at one time home to the families of U.S. Coast Guard members stationed at Governors Island.

Now, the paper writes, the site will be home to a 30-acre park and some ball fields.
