This Week in NYC Election News

What happened this week in the race for city hall.

Heading into August hasn't been the busiest week in the election season so far, but things have definitely turned a corner, check out our round-up below:

Anthony Weiner dropped to fourth place among Democrats in the most recent Quinnipiac poll, revealing that like David Axelrod said, Americans believe in second chances, but not third chances.

His campaign also hit a rough patch after his communications director unleashed a torrent of profanity at a former intern who wrote about spending a month working with Weiner.

Meanwhile former Comptroller candidate Bill Thompson took a whirlwind 24-hour campaign tour of New York City, hitting all five boroughs and exhausting the press corps.

Public Advocate Bill de Blasio is staking out the city's hospital closures as a campaign issue, and pledging to fight against the closure of Brooklyn medical centers LICH and Interfaith.
