LICH Tracker: Upcoming Rallies and Protests

Where to join other Brooklyn activists in saving Cobble Hill's hospital.

On the heels of Monday's march on the Governor's office, Long Island College Hospital supporters are staging two more protests to demonstrate the people's desire to keep the struggling Cobble Hill resource open. Here are the details:

Rally 'At the Scene of the Crime'

On Wednesday, July 10 at 10 a.m. a protest will take place in front of the SUNY School of Optometry located at 33 West 42nd Street between 5th and 6th Avenues in Manhattan. This rally is a call to action to end the ambulance diversion voted on inside of the NYC office of SUNY Chancellor Nancy Zimpher.

Patients, nurses, caregivers, doctors, community allies, the New York State Nurses Association, 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, Concerned Physicians for LICH, and elected leaders, including New York City Council Members Stephen Levin and Letitia James, Speaker Christine Quinn, and Public Advocate Bill de Blasio are all expected to attend. Parents for LICH Bedtime Rally & March

Thursday, July 11, 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. at LICH Park on Henry Street between Amity and Pacific Streets in Cobble Hill. Parents who delivered children or are planning to at the hospital—and the children who received services there—are encouraged to attend and speak out about how LICH is vital to their families. This rally is in response to the recent loss of overnight pediatric care at the hospital. Following the speak-out, a march will commence from Court Street to the Brooklyn Bridge.
