What you can do now: call your Councilmember

While the , the fact remains that today is Day Three after the storm, and many streets are still unplowed.

Though major avenues have been cleared, many neighborhood residents find their cars blocked in under two feet of snow and still other residents report even some sidewalks are still un-shoveled.

Yesterday, Councilmember Brad Lander announced that the City Council will hold a hearing on January 10 at 1 p.m. to assess the City's response to the storm, and why, as Lander wrote in his statement, "the response seems so inadequate in so many neighborhoods across the city."

"Poor 2nd Street has been overlooked in addition to Hoyt Street.," she wrote in an email. "There are no cars in the way there is really no excuse. As taxpayers we are all livid at the mayor! It's been 3 days now."

Bernardo added that older residents can't leave their homes.

"We are all stir crazy now. I haven't gone to work in 3 days now. I'm afraid of falling and breaking something," she said, adding "My daughter calls it an 'epic fail.'"

Residents are encouraged to continue lodging their complaints to 311, but should expect a slow response. Residents are also encouraged to submit any complaints to Councilmember's Lander and Levin. Calls to 911 should only be made in the case of a true emergency, due to an extremely high volume of storm-related emergency 911 calls.
