Christine Quinn, Jumaane Williams Alerts Brooklynites to Recent Rape

City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, Councilman Jumaane Williams, D-45, and Councilwoman Julissa Ferreras, D-21, spent Thursday morning alerting residents of the recent rape near Brooklyn College.

The elected officials, along with community activists and concerned citizens circulated flyers beginning at 7 a.m. with details about the assailant at the subway station on Flatbush and Nostrand avenues, steps away from the site of the attack.

"About 1,000 fliers were made up," Williams told Patch, noting that the handouts would be given to passersby for at least an hour. 

At approximately 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, a 22-year-old woman was approached by an unknown man near the intersection of East 27th St. and Glenwood Road.

"The stranger then forcibly took the victim to an alleyway and raped her," cops reported. The woman was also robbed by the suspect. 

The suspect is described as a black male in his mid-20's, standing approximately 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-7, weighing 160 pounds with a medium build and bald head. He was last seen wearing a blue New York Yankees baseball hat with a white brim and dark gray jacket.
