Holiday Mischief in Carroll Gardens

 Diamond Ring Taken from Closet

A Cobble Hill woman had a $10,000 diamond wedding ring stolen from her residence sometime on December 16th. Having set the ring down on a dresser in her closet, the woman returned a few hours later to find it missing along with a key chain. There are no firm leads, but detectives are investigating workers from a contracting company recently hired to make renovations to the building’s interior.

Thieves Snatch iPhone as Subway Doors Close

A 33-year-old woman was sitting by the door on a northbound F train when a thief reached into the train from the platform, snatched her iPhone, and ran off as the train pulled away. The woman tried to exit the train but could not make it out before the doors closed. Wanted is an African-American male around six feet tall and 160 lbs.

 

Tablet Computer Stolen

A restaurant employee left his tablet computer briefly unattended, and came back to find it missing. The crime took place on December 16th at Watty and Meg, a restaurant and diner on Court Street. The perpetrator remains unidentified.

 

Man Arrested with Stolen Goods and Robbery Materials

A police officer in an unmarked vehicle observed a man handling “robbery materials” at the corner of Butler and Bond Streets. Upon questioning, the man was found to be in possession of stolen items from Target. The fifty five year old male was arrested for criminal possession of stolen property, a misdemeanor.

 

Holiday Safety Tips from the 76th Precinct

  • Be alert and aware at all times; criminals target people who are distracted
  • Never leave your property unattended
  • Don’t leave handbags or backpacks hanging over the back of a chair in restaurants and coffee shops
  • Be extra conscious during the holidays, because thieves assume that people are carrying extra money
