New Jersey Man Arrested on Bank Robbery Charges

Man fled bank to his Holiday Inn hotel room, police say.

Police have arrested a New Jersey man on armed robbery charges after he allegedly held up the SunTrust bank just north of the Ravenel Bridge in Mount Pleasant.

It happened around 9:15 a.m. Wednesday when Craig S. Ozarowski allegedly entered the bank, brandished what looked like a firearm and demanded money, according to Mount Pleasant Police Maj. Stan Gragg.

The suspect fled the scene and sought cover in his room at the nearby Holiday Inn Express, according to Gragg. Officers located Ozarowski inside the hotel and placed him under arrest.

Officers recovered the undisclosed amount of cash and an air-soft pistol, Gragg said. Ozarowski has been charged with armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, according to the police department.

Here's the original story, with a little commentary:

If you're planning to rob a bank on a foggy and busy Wednesday morning, there are good and bad locations. And 404 Johnnie Dodds Blvd. in Mount Pleasant is just about the worst.

Despite the impossible odds of pulling off a heist in this location, police are investigating such a robbery that reportedly happened this morning at the SunTrust bank near the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge, according to media reports.

Yes, that's the busy intersection of Johnnie Dodds and Houston Northcutt boulevards. It's congested — especially in the morning — full of witnesses and even road construction crews.

On top of that, it's just a few hundred yards from the Mount Pleasant Police Department.

Not surprisingly, police have arrested the alleged robber, according to Live5News. There are few other details available, such as the suspect's name, if he's an out-of-towner or just plain nuts.

This is a breaking-news update. Check back for more details.
