Sanitation Worker Dies After Being Crushed By Truck Compactor

Officers from the 84th Precinct responded to the scene early Saturday morning.


A sanitation worker was crushed by his truck's compactor within the confines of the 84th Precinct on Saturday morning, according to police. 

At approximately 10:28 a.m. police officers responded to a call regarding an unconscious male at 135 Plymouth Street, not far from the Manhattan Bridge.

Upon arriving at the scene, cops discovered a Hispanic male, 18, unconscious and unresponsive to their efforts at communication.

The victim had been working in the rear of a private sanitation truck when the truck’s compactor came down and struck his torso, cops said.

Luis Camarillo of the Bronx was immediately transported to Long Island College Hospital where he was later pronounced dead, according to police reports.

There were no arrests and the investigation is ongoing, said cops.
