Rooftop Fire on Lower Court Street

There were no injuries.

A fire on the roof of a three-story building at 521 Court St. broke out around 8 pm tonight. The Red Hook Raiders responded with two ladders and multiple engines.

There were no injuries, the Fire Department confirmed.

Battalion Chief Vallebuona said the fire occurred on the rear section of the roof near the gutters and it was unclear how it started. Firefighters had to cut a hole in the roof to make sure all of the fire's embers had been extinguished, he said.

Despite all the commotion, no one on the scene saw a fire.

Chris Misiti lives in the Parkside section of Brooklyn but was visiting his friends who own the restaurant Luna Rossa -- directly across the street from the fire.

"I didn't smell anything, I didn't see anything," he said.

Louis Muniz lives across the street from where the fire burned, above the Court and Spark bar.

"I didn't see anything," he said. "I heard some stuff but I thought, 'This is New York, I'm used to it.'"

The resident of the top floor of the building, who only wants to be identified by his first name, Anthony, was understandably shaken up.

"I came home from work and this is what I found," he said.

Will he move out?

"It's too early to tell."
