A suspicious male was roaming Mill Street with a gun early Friday, July 13, report officers of the 76 Precinct. After receiving a call at approximately 1 a.m., a unit was dispatched to observe the individual.
Upon arriving at the scene, plain clothes officers noted a black, 20-year-old male with a firearm tucked into his waistband walking toward a deli near the intersection of Mill and Hicks Streets.
As the officers approached the suspicious individual, he immediately fled toward the Red Hook Housing Development and into 21 Mill Street, firing a shot toward the officers pursuing him, according to police reports.
The suspect was quickly apprehended, however, inside abutting 15 Mill Street. The firearm recovered was a fully loaded .45 caliber Smith and Wesson Semi-Automatic handgun, said cops.
The 76 Precinct reports that there were no injuries to any officers or civilians in the capture of this person. Charges are pending.
