PTA Embezzler Providence Hogan's Spa Sued for $40K in Back Rent

Hogan is in court for rent owed on her business, Providence Day Spa.

In addition to facing criminal charges and for her from the PTA, Providence Hogan is also in a legal bind for not paying the rent for her business, .

According to documents filed in civil court, Providence Day Spa LLC is behind about $40,000 in back rent to the landlord, 329 Atlantic Corp. In March, the spa was served papers calling on Providence Day Spa LLC to pay back the money owed, or be evicted.

That same sum, $40,000, is the approximate amount Hogan needs to pay before her next criminal court date, October 3, in order to avoid trial and possible jail time.

When Hogan was charged with embezzling funds from the PTA, also in March, the grand jury indictment said Hogan had used some of the money "to pay business expenses including rent for her place of business, Providence Day Spa."

The landlord's attorney, Marc Aronson, said Hogan has owed back rent for years.

"When she's saying she used that money to pay her rent it's an out and out lie," he said.

According to court documents filed, the monthly rent for the ground floor and a rear section of the basement of 329 Atlantic Ave., which Hogan began renting on November 15, 2003, is $5,811.

Hogan has appeared in civil court four times already, and is scheduled to make a final appearance on Sept. 12. On that date either a deal will be made to pay back the money or the case will go to trial, said Aronson.

"We're willing to make a deal," said Aronson. "If she pays the rent she can stay."

Hogan's attorney, William Slochowsky, did not return repeated calls for comment.
