Police Blotter: Three Gunpoint Robberies

Reports from the 76 Precinct.

The following arrest information was supplied by the 76th Precinct. It does not indicate a conviction.

Robbery No. 1

A 38-year-old male and a 48-year-old male were robbed on July 6 around 2:15 a.m. near Columbia and West 9th streets, cops said. The men were approached by a male thief who showed them a black handgun and said "Nobody move. Give me all your money and your cell phone." The thief took off with $420 in cash and a Blackberry worth $170.

Robbery No. 2

A 40-year-old male was robbed of thousands of dollars worth of camera equipment on July 16, just before 11 p.m., on Smith and West 9th streets, cops said. The man was appoached by three thieves, one of whom displayed a firearm. While one thief held the gun, the other two went through the man's pockets, according to police. They fled with the victim's property, including a Canon Camera worth $850, a camera lens worth $750, film and memory cards wirth $250, a camera bag worth $60 and a cell phone worth $99.

Robbery No. 3

A 20-year-old male was robbed on the corner of Court Street and 4th Place on July 18 around 3 a.m., cops said. A thief approached the man, said "Empty your pockets and give me everything," and pointed a gun in the victim's face, according to police. The thief took a wallet and a cell phone.

During a canvass by police officers, the thief was spotted and a "brief foot pursuit" occurred. The 16-year-old thief was apprehended and arrested by Police Officer Joseph Odachowski.

Expensive Construction Equipment Goes Missing

A construction site on Amity Street, between Henry and Clinton streets, was burglarized sometime between 10 a.m. on July 11 and 9 a.m. on July 13, cops said. Unknown thieves entered the site though a side panel of the fenced site, and took a Hilti Demo Saw worth $2,000.
