Police Blotter: Teen Arrested for Firearm; Shampoo Shoplifted at Rite-Aid; Multiple Muggings

Teen Arrested For Firearm Posession, Suspected in Red Hook Shootings

A 16-year-old was arrested for possessing a loaded firearm on Hicks Street and West 9th Street last week, police said. On Tuesday, June 19 at 8:20 p.m. the teen was observed with a 357 Strum Ruger revolver. When he saw police approaching, the individual dropped the gun and fled. But his attempt at escape brought him into the direct path of another foot patrol officer in Red Hook. Quincy Williams was arrested at 8:23 p.m. and charged with criminal posession of a firearm as well as a ziplock bag of marijuana. Police at the 76 Precinct believe Williams may be involved in recent shootings that took place in Red Hook. The case is still under investigation.

Three Teens Arrested For Stealing Cell Phone on F Train

A woman riding Northbound on the F train was the victim of three teens who targeted the female and stole her iPhone, police said. On Sunday, June 24 at 10:30 p.m. the train was approaching Smith and President Streets when an unknown person grabbed the 23-year-old victim's T-mobile Samsung phone and fled the car with a group. The victim pursued the robbers above ground where she was able to find officers of the 76 Precinct. Joining the officers inside of their police car, they drove around and canvassed the area, yielding an arrest of three teens on Court Street and Huntington Street ages 17, 15 and 14. Jasawn Ramirez was charged with robbery and criminal possession of stolen property and subsequently arrested along with the two other juveniles.

Victim Injured in Bookbag Robbery

At the corner of Clinton Street and 2nd Place, on Wednesday, June 20, at 7:40 p.m. a 51-year-old man was shoved in the face by an unknown assailant, causing him to fall and bruise his face. Shortly after, at approximately 7:45 p.m., a 21-year-old named Kellety Traore, was arrested for stealing the older man's black bookbag worth $106. Traore has been charged with robbery, assault, resisting arrest and violent fighting.

Shampoo Shoplifter Strikes Rite Aid on Smith Street

The Smith Street Rite Aid was the site of single-minded shoplifter on Sunday, June 17 at 4:55 p.m., police said. Officials at the store observed a man removing various personal care merchandise from the shelves, concealing it, and attempting to exit the business without paying. Items taken included five Nexxus Therappe Moisturizing Shampoo bottles, one each Nexxus Defy Frizz Protection Shampoo and Conditioner bottles, and two Olay wrinkle creams. But before the crook was able to make a clean getaway, the authorities were called. Lionel Taylor, 42, was arrested at 5:00 p.m., charged with petty larceny. He had an active warrant at the time of his arrest, police said.

Purse Snatched Along Court Street

A woman sitting outside on Court Street between 2nd Place and 3rd Place on Sunday, June 17 was the victim of a midnight mugging, police said, when a passerby snatched her purse and fled. The bag was later recovered nearby but its contents were missing. The female, 36, reported stolen her wallet, credit card, debit card, NYU ID card, $10 in cash and a Metropass. The criminal is a black female, police said. No suspects are known at this time.
