Police Blotter: Taxi Driver Punches Passenger in the Face

Taxi Driver Punches Passenger in the Face
A livery car passenger reported an assault in front of 260 Hamilton Avenue on Sunday, April 14, at 1:10 a.m., according to police reports. The victim states that the driver of the taxi he was riding in pulled him out of the car and struck him in the face with his fist. The driver then fled in his vehicle, cops said. The victim is a male, 31. He was unable to provide police with any descriptive information of the driver or the auto.  

Shoplifter Arrested at Rite Aid
An arrest was made at 320 Smith Street on Sunday, April 14 at 1:15 p.m., said cops. It was there that an individual was apprehended by an employee while removing property without permission. The shoplifter attempted to take $79 worth of merchandise, including a ConAir hair dryer, a Gilette razor, Nivea lotion, Crest toothpaste, Head & Shoulders shampoo and conditioner, and Ogilvy lotion. Twenty-nine-year-old  Leah Acosta was arrested for the theft, cops said.  

iPad Swiped From Staircase
Along the 200 block of Hoyt Street, on Sun April 14 at 2:45 p.m. a teenager was sitting on the staircase reading when two black unknown individuals walked up to him and said, “Lemme see your iPad!" The assailants grabbed it and took off down the street, cops said. The victim attempted to run after them but couldn’t catch up. No arrests have been made at this time. The victim is a male, 14. Taken was one Apple iPad worth $499.  

Burglar Breaks Into Apartment, Steals Electronics
A burglary was reported at 414 Baltic Street on Monday, April 8 at 10 p.m., cops said. The victim stated that property was taken from her bedroom without permission by an unknown person. As her ex-boyfriend was arrested on April 5, the victim, 22, believes he returned to her residence, kicked in the door and removed the items, police said. Items stolen include a black TV ($200), HP Laptop ($400), Nike Air Jordans ($300), Nikon cam ($300), and iPod mini ($329).  

Man Receives Staples After Being Struck with Stick
A man reported being struck with a stick on Monday and requiring medical attention, cops said. At 606 Clinton Street on Monday, April 15 at 4:56 p.m. two individuals were involved in an altercation, struggling, when a third person struck the victim in the head. The victim received medical aid, resulting in six staples to close up the injury. A female, Ebony Meadows, 38, was arrested in connection with the incident. 

41-Year-Old Beat Up By 20-Something
On the 100 block of Dwight Street, on Monday April 15 at 8:55 a.m. a woman struck out at a male acquaintance during a dispute, hitting him in several parts of the body, cops said. The victim is a male, 41. After police arrived on the scene a female, 21, named Antinette Wade was arrested at 9:20 a.m.
