President Street Apartment Plundered for $3527 Worth of Goods

An apartment building on President Street between Clinton and Henry Streets suffered a massive burglary in just under two hours, cops said. On Tuesday, July 18, between 2:18 p.m. and 3:50 p.m. an unknown individual entered the apartment through the kitchen window, then entered and exited through the front of the building several times. When the superintendent tried to detain him, he fled on foot toward Clinton Street and Atlantic Avenue, but not without taking all but the kitchen sink with him—$3527 worth of goods were stolen. There were three male victims, ages 37, 40, and 33, respectively. Items included an Xbox ($391), a Toshiba laptop ($420), a checkbook, an iPod ($250), an Xbox controller ($70), a St. Anthony pendant on a chain ($60), two Cannon cameras and various lenses, a Ziplock bag of coins ($200), a Rawling baseball glove Pro-7 ($175), one 1213 glove also black ($150), a Wilson glove ($200), a backpack ($150), $20 in US currency, another iPod ($250), and a box of various goods, including medicines and painkiller ($100). The crook was described as a black male, 5 foot 7, wearing a mohawk hairdo.

Flower Bandit Strikes Deli

Dreams Gourmet Deli, was the target of an alleged flower bandit on Saturday, July 14, police said. At 12:10 a.m. the victim stated they witnessed an individual remove flowers from the storefront display then flee. The business owner file the report for the $10 bouquet because he asserts that this is not the first time. According to the victim, the same crook has struck before. The description of the suspect given was for a white male, approximately 35, 5 foot 10, with brown eyes and brown hair.

15-year-old Arrested After Attempted Burglary

A young woman was arrested at Hicks Street and Summit Street after attempting to enter an apartment through the fire escape police said. On Monday, July 16 at 9:15 p.m. a girl was seen climbing a fire escape and attempting to enter an apartment through its window. The tenant, 60, observed the female himself and immediately reported the incident to police. After joining Police Officer Oliver Lyheem in canvassing the area, the pair spotted the female nearby at Rapely and Henry Street. A female, 15, was arrested at 10:30 p.m. that evening.

Graffiti Tags Show Up At Three Neighborhood Locations

Three instances of graffiti appeared in the neighborhood over the weekend, cops said. Unknown individuals tagged "BE+RODA" in black and white spray paint in front of 15 Woodhull Street at some point on Saturday, July 14 between 9 a .m. and 5 p.m. Around the same time, graffiti was tagged in black and white spray paint that reads "17 + MISS" at the Northeast corner of Clinton and Mill Streets on the side of an abandoned warehouse. Lastly, cops reported that the BP gas station on Hamilton Avenue was tagged in black spray paint with the word “ZONE.”

Baltic Street Bike Rider Arrested With Gravity Knife

A man was arrested at the intersection of Baltic Street at Hoy Street on Saturday, July 14 at 6 p.m. said cops. Officers observed an individual riding his bicycle who was known to be banned from New York City housing grounds. Upon a search, the individual was discovered to possess a gravity knife. Jose Diaz, 21, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal trespassing.
