Police Blotter: Man Shot at Gowanus Houses; Multiple Homes Burgled; Wheelchair Stolen and More

The following arrest information was supplied by the 76th Precinct. It does not indicate a conviction.

Gun Shots at Gowanus Houses

A man was shot in the stomach while standing inside a building entrance on Sunday, cops said. On April 22 at 1:25 a.m. the victim told responding officers that he was standing inside of the lobby at 241 Hoyt Street, when he heard several gun shots being fired. He then realized he'd been wounded in the stomach and, upon calling 911, was removed to Lutheran Hospital. The victim is a male, 39. He was unable to identify who fired the shots, police sources said. The case is still undergoing investigation.

Tresspasser Scales Fire Escape, Then Flees 

Tenants observed a trespasser coming down the fire escape in back of a building on Kane Street between Court and Clinton Street on Saturday, April 14, cops said. At approximately 7:15 a.m. the suspect was seen scaling down the back of the house then entering through a back door. He then exited out the front door and down Kane Street. No possessions were taken from the 47-year-old female whose home was entered. A canvass of the area following the incident yielded nothing, cops said. The suspect is described as a white male of indeterminate age, wearing brown jeans and a white tank top.

Bust Up At Tiffany's

An assault occurred on Tiffany Place between Degraw and Kane Streets, Sunday, April 15 at 11:40 a.m. During a dispute between a 34-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man, the female was struck in the back of the head with a closed fist, cops said. Clyde Davison was arrested shortly after at the scene and taken into custody, police said.

Crook Tries for Cash Register at Sadie's Kitchen

An unknown individual broke into through the front window at some point between 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17 and 8 a.m. on the April 19, cops said. The burglar broke into the register, which was empty, then exited back out through the window. No suspects are known at this time.

Wheelchair Whisked Away Along With Personal Documents

A 61-year-old woman had her wheelchair and purse stolen from the lobby of a building on Baltic Street between Bond and Hoyt Streets, Tuesday, April 17 at 10:10 p.m. The victim told police officers that she left her Go-Go Traveller automated scooter in the lobby of the building, then took the elevator upstairs. Upon returning to the lobby to fetch the wheelchair, it was gone along with her purse, cops said. The large leopard print purse contained the woman's birth certificate, her son’s birth certificate, their social security cards, a Medicaid card, an EBT card, a New York State non-drivers ID, $50 and nine rent receipts. 

Burglary at Bocca Lupo Restaurant

A burglary took place at on Friday, April 20 at 12:30 a.m. and reported at 2:51 a.m. An alarm system notified the owner and officers of the 76 Precinct, who both arrived at the scene at the same time. The business was broken into through the front door by busting the lock, according to police sources. Upon investigating the scene, the cash register was discovered missing. It was reportedly worth $200 and contained $250. The victim is a 42-year-old man. 

Homeowner Confronts Intruder Mid-Robbery  

On Saturday, April 21 between 9:05 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. an unknown individual broke into the front door window at a residence on Fourth Place at Court Street, cops said. The suspect proceeded up to the third floor, where the victim, a 43-year-old male, was sitting at home. The victim confronted the intruder, who then fled through rear door. A 30-year-old witness was also on the scene. The suspect was described as a white male, 5 foot 2, 130 pounds, with short black hair and wearing jeans. The burglar stole a white iPhone 4S worth $400, cops said.

Library Movies Lifted From Sidewalk Bench

Fourteen films borrowed from the Brooklyn Public Library were stolen from a bench at the Northeast corner of Sackett and Henry Streets on Monday, April 23 at 11:00 a.m. The 55-year-old male victim reported to the 76 Precinct that he went inside of the cafe on that corner and left his items, which he'd just borrowed from the library, on a bench outside. They were all gone when he emerged from the store, cops said. No suspects have been identified at this time.
