Police Blotter: iPhones Continue To Attract Crime in Carroll Gardens

iPhones Continue To Attract Crime in Carroll Gardens

1. A man was the victim of a robbery on Baltic Street, Saturday, Feb. 16, cops said. At approximately 5:45 pm, the victim was walking on Wyckoff when he was approached by two unknown individuals, who forcefully grabbed him and shoved him onto a vehicle. One placed a grey firearm toward the victim's face, cops said. The other forcefully removed the victim's black iPhone ($400)  and wallet. Cops said the duo told the victim to keep walking or they would shoot. The victim is male, 41. Items stolen include three credit cards, two health cards, $15 cash, and an iPod nano ($50). No description of the assailants was provided, cops said.

2. On the 50th block of Douglass Street between Court and Smith, a man was robbed on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 4:35 pm., cops said. The victim told police he was walking when two unknown individuals came up behind him. The first stepped in front of him and asked for the time. A second one had a knife, cops said. The pai took the victim’s iPhone 4 ($300) and walked away eastbound on Douglass. Wanted are two males, 18 and 19, between 5 foot 5 and 6 foot, respectively.

3. A man, 34, was walking home from a friend’s house when he was approached by three unknown individuals, who attacked him and kicked him in the groin, police said. The incident occurred just outisde of 237 Bond Street, on Feb. 10 at 1:10 am. Thieves stole an iPhone ($500) and $30 cash, then fled toward the Gowanus houses.

4. There was an attempted robbery at the corner of Sackett and Hoyt Streets on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 4:15 pm, police said. The victim was approached by two unknown individuals who tried to remove his iPhone and threatened him by stating they had a firearm. Officers of the 76th Precinct were alerted and an immediate canvass of the surrounding area was conducted. One male, 15, was arrested. His accomplice, Neal Perry, 20, was also arrested.

Soap Stolen From Henry St.

A woman was arrested on the 400 block of Henry Street for trying to steal away with unpurchased soap, said cops. On Feb. 18 at 4:20 pm, Christina Melendez, 35, entered the location at the corner of Degraw and Henry streets, and attempted to exit with 12 Dove sensitive skin soaps ($130). She was arrested and charged with criminal posession of stolen property.

Trader Joe's Pickpocket Walks Aways With Woman's Wallet

A woman, 26, was the victim of a pickpocket while shopping at Trader Joe's at 130 Court Street, cops said. At approximately 6 p.m. on Feb. 13, the victim said she felt her bag move upward. When she looked inside, items were missing, cops said. The thief took a wallet ($50), a Visa and one Master Card, cops said. All cards were cancelled before the crook was able to make any charged, according to police.
