Police Blotter: Firearm Found on Street; Plus, Pickpockets, Graffitti and Pot

Firearm Found on Sidewalk

While walking to work one morning along Visitation Place between Richards Street and Van Brunt Street, a man came across a box with what appeared to be the butt of a shotgun sticking out. The 53-year-old witness discovered the deadly firearm on Monday, April 9, at 7:10 a.m. He immediately called emergency services, which upon arrival to the scene determined that the firearm was unloaded. Police forces secured the model No. 20 shotgun and removed it from the area.

Tax Preparer Victim of Pickpocket

A tax specialist was in her office on Lucquer Street Saturday, April 14, at 8:15 p.m. when she reported to the 76 Precinct that her wallet was missing. Upon going into her purse to retrieve a flash drive at her office, she realized that an unknown person had removed her wallet without permission. The victim, 58, told police she believed she was bumped into on the train while entering the subway at West 23rd Street and 6th Avenue in Manhattan. The crook took three credit cards, a New York drivers license, health card, flash drive and miscellaneous receipts.

Tires and Rims Swiped on Nelson Street

On Thursday, April 12 between midnight and 8:30 a.m. the following morning, someone removed two Goodyear tires and two rims worth a total of $500 from a black 2009 Nissan Maxima 4-door Sedan parked on Nelson Street at the corner of Hamilton Avenue, cops said. The victim was a 30-year-old male.

Met Food Entrance Marred By Graffitti 

The market located at 197 Smith Street between Baltic and Warreen Streets discovered that sometime between Sunday, April 1 at 8 a.m. through Friday, April 13 at 6 p.m., an unknown individual tagged “Sage” on the front door, cops said. No suspects have been identified at this time.

Pot Smoker Gets Pinched

An 18-year-old male was observed in possession of a lit marijuana cigarette inside of a hallway in a building on Bond Street at the corner of Butler Street, cops said. When approached it was discovered that the indvidual also had an active warrant. Ronald Maxwell was arrested on Thursday, April 12 at 6:10 p.m.
