NYPD: Help Get Guns Off The Street

Brooklyn residents can earn up to $1,000 from turning in a firearm.

A couple cleaning out the basement of their new home in Carroll Gardens recently came upon a few unexpected items in the process: handguns belonging to a previous owner.

Unable to return them to that person and uninterested in holding onto them, the new homeowners turned in the firearms to the 76th Precinct and earned some extra cash in the process.

In fact, residents can make up to $1,000 by surrendering guns to NYPD, said Sergeant Vincent Marrone at a recent council meeting. Interested locals can call the precinct at (718) 834-3211.
