UPDATE: Early Morning Fire Seriously Injures One

Blaze reported at 6:16 a.m. Sunday.

UPDATE: Feb. 13, 3:50 p.m.:

The 31-year-old male victim of the early-morning fire that took place at 152 Smith Street in Boerum Hill on Sunday, February 12, remains in the emergency room at Long Island College Hospital, a representative of the hospital confirmed Monday afternoon. No other details regarding his condition were released.

A blaze in a Boerum Hill apartment building resulted in one serious injury early Sunday morning, according to the New York Fire Department.

An FDNY spokesman said the fire began in the basement of 152 Smith St. at approximately 6 a.m. According to fire officials, around 60 firefighters helped bring the blaze under control at 6:53 a.m.

The injured person was transported to Long Island College Hospital.

The building, a four-story structure, houses , an indepedently-owned bar that opened in 2003.
