Crimes Nearby: Shootings and Stolen Toothpaste

Our look at crimes in Brooklyn for the past seven days.

Here’s our wrap-up of crime coverage across Brooklyn in the past week. The following information indicates arrests, and not convictions, and information was provided by the New York City Police Department, except where otherwise noted.

Bed-Stuy

Teen shot in the back: On July 30, at 4:30 a.m., a 19-year-old man was shot twice in the back at 153 Marcus Garvey boulevard. Police received a call that a man was shot in the hallway, and when they arrived police found the victim on the floor, conscious, with two gunshot wounds. Police said the victim would not give them any information on the shooters. He was rushed to Kings County Hospital where he’s in stable condition. Police found rounds in the hallways and detectives are working the case.

Man shot in the neck: On July 28, at 12:38 a.m., a 20-year-old man was shot one time in the neck in the yard at 781 Greene Avenue. According to police, the victim said he was not sure who shot him. He was sent to Kings County Hospital and has since been removed. Detectives are working the case. 

Man shot in both legs: A 20-year-old male was shot in both of his legs in front of 722 Madison Street on July 28, at 5 a.m. The victim told police he was walking down the block and when someone pulled up in a gray Toyota sedan, got out of the car, shot him twice and got back in the car and drove off. He did not recognize the shooter or have any idea why he shot him, according to police. 

Park Slope

Toothpaste, a lot of condoms stolen: The Brooklyn Paper reported that a 28-year-old his belongings stolen from a storage unit — including 49 different kinds of cigars and cigarettes, bags, tobacco paper, pens, 60 tubes of toothpaste, foam cups and lids, batteries, 18 bars of soap and 18 packs of condoms.

Carroll Gardens

Woman ID's attempted kidnapper: While walking toward the intersection of 2nd Place and Court Street, a 27-year-old female was followed by an unknown individual, cops said. The man then allegedly pistol-whipped the woman and tried to drag her inside of a vehicle. He was later identified as part of a police line-up, police said.
