Cobble Hill Brownstone Set Ablaze Tuesday Night, Three Injured

FDNY responded to a fire at Tompkins Place at 7:34 p.m.


A fire took place in a vacant three-story brownstone in Cobble Hill Tuesday night, injuring three responders, FDNY have confirmed. The blaze started in the top floor of the 20 feet by 40 feet structure.

The building, located at 61 Tompkins Place between Degraw and Kane Streets, has been under construction, with one neighbor stating that the owners “were supposed to move in this week.” 

FDNY responded to the scene at approximately 7:34 p.m. and were able put out all flames by 8:16 p.m. Fire marshalls have been contacted to investigate the cause, FDNY stated.

Three firemen were transported to Long Island College Hospital as a result of the blaze. There is no further information as to the status of their injuries at this time.
