A man was arrested Thursday evening in Red Hook after firing at officers on Columbia Street, police said.

After receiving information about a man armed with a gun, plain clothes officers from Police Service Area 1 investigated inside 458 Columbia Street. According to police, officers Jovanny Calderone and Dorian Thompson found Calvin Randall, 25, of Harlem, exiting the building within the Red Hook Houses and identified themselves after watching him adjust his waistband.

According to police, as the officers attempted to stop Randall he resisted, reached into his waistband and fired one round, which didn't hit anyone. Officers took him down, arrested him and recovered his .22 caliber Arminius revolver.

Randall is charged with Attempted Murder, Attempted Assault on a Police Officer, Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Reckless Endangerment and Resisting Arrest.
