The woman was walking down Court Street near Second Place when she was approached by a man and a woman, both approximately in their mid-30s. The man approached the victim and asked her if she had dropped her credit card, and produced a credit card. The victim said no, and in a bizarre course of events, ended up falling for a pitch the thieves gave her. According to police, the victim got in a car with the man and woman and drove to what she thought was the man's bank, where he was supposedly told they would receive a large reward for returning the credit card if they waited an additional two hours.

The woman told the victim she needed $4,000 and would she lend her the money until they received the reward. The victim agreed, and they drove to her bank, where she withdrew the funds. The thieves told the victim they would call her and come and pick her up when it was time to pick up the reward.
