Maybe it's because I just finished Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother by Amy Chua, but i've started to notice all of these new tutoring centers opening around the neighborhood.
From Kumon Learning Center on Smith Street to Mathnasium on Atlantic Avenue. Oh, and let’s not forget Brownstone Tutors on Court Street.
I noticed that Kumon offers tutoring for kids ages three to five and Mathnasium has a program for pre-K students. I was shocked to see learning center programs for little kids. Will my children lag behind their classmates because at three years old I let them play in Carroll Park instead of sending them to fundamentals of math classes?
Although these centers are an incredible resource for an older child, I wonder if starting that young is worth it.
Would you enroll your preschooler in one of these programs? I'd love to hear your opinion!
