City noise will probably increase
Because of Michael Bloomberg's taste for high-end development, there is now a pattern of granting work permits that allow 24/7 construction. This contrasts with the NYC Noise code prohibition of after-hours construction between 7 pm - 7 am.
The 24/7 work on the Brooklyn Bridge is a major precedent for allowing jackhammering, etc. throughout the night. It has been going on for the last two years and is expected to continue until 2015 and beyond. If you value peace and the essential value of sleep, there should be a turn-around of this hazardous policy. Let's see how Bill de Blasio speaks to this issue. At LICH, he spoke the language of legal pressure.
