The Search for Santa

Contact Santa by mail, or visit him here in Brooklyn.

During Santacon last Saturday, thousands of Santas have been spotted on the streets of New York, but the real Santa is hard at work deciding what toys he should give to children across the globe. With the holidays fast approaching, some kids are beginning to ask about their favorite old man with rosey cheeks and a belly that shakes like a bowl full of jelly.

Luckily for young Brooklynites (and their relatives), finding the generous St. Nick doesn’t mean a trip to the North Pole.

In Brooklyn, there are plenty of ways for children to answer their favorite holiday question: What do you want most this year?

In addition to his walk down Flatbush Avenue last Saturday, Santa Claus has been spotted at Fairway Market in Red Hook, and at Santa’s Village at Habana Outpost in Fort Greene, according to McBrooklyn Blog.

But never fear, Santa is taking requests until Christmas Eve, and you can find him all over Brooklyn:

Dekalb Market - Flatbush Ave. Ext. and Willoughby Street (Weekdays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Weekends, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.).

Melt - 440 Bergen St. in Park Slope (Dec. 18th from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.)

Brooklyn Children’s Museum - 145 Brooklyn Ave in Crown Heights (Dec. 15th, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.; Dec. 17th, 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.)

Kings Plaza Shopping Center - Flatbush Ave. and Ave U (Mon - Sat, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Sun, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.)

For families under economic stress this season, children can also contact Santa via snail mail with Operation Santa, a program with volunteers in 75 USPS branches, helping needy kids receive gifts from their Christmas wish list.
