Hoyt Street Plant Sale This Weekend

Green your home while giving to a good cause.

The 2012  will be held at the garage of 110 Hoyt Street near the corner of Pacific Street on Saturday, April 28, from 10:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, April 29, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

If you've never been, organizers assure that it's worth the walk.

"There's always a lively excitement at the Plant Sale," said Howard Kolins, President of the Boerum Hill Association.

Margaret Cusack, President of the Hoyt Street Association, echoed that sentiment, adding that some shoppers may be motivated by warm-weather open houses.

"People arrive with their shopping carts and wagons," said Cusack. "They're eager to get their plants into their gardens and window boxes—especially since the upcoming Boerum Hill House Tour is June 3rd."

An array of annuals, perennials and shrubs for gardens, tree pits, window boxes
and containers, including hostas, ferns, impatiens, herbs, house plants, and others will all be on offers.

Profits from the Plant Sale benefit the Hoyt Street Association’s neighborhood activities, including its grant program, the Hoyt Street Association Community Funding Project. An annual event, event organizers are still looking for volunteers to help out and say the work is rewarding.

"Many neighbors have called to thank me for all the organizing that I do for the Plant Sale," said Michael DuBick, Plant Sale organizer.

And if you're in the greening mood, don't forget to hit the on Saturday as well.
