Where to Get Thanksgiving Fixins

Thanksgiving is all about spending time with your family and being thankful. But of course it's also about the food! And while open on Turkey Day, the rest of us will choose to spend the day at home.

Here's our list of where to buy all the ingredients you'll need for a delicious feast, or which local spots are offering pre-made turkey and fixin's.

First things first...Turkey!

Major supermarkets, Trader Joe's and local butcher's like and will certainly have birds of varying sizes and varieties in stock, but if you want a special turkey, a heritage breed or an organic, free range bird, try these spots.

This newly opened spot in the Slope sells birds for $8.99 a pound. And though they are 100 percent free range, they are far from local. According to Brooklyn Based, the birds were raised in Bolinas, California.Call 718-398-MOOO to put in your order.

Carroll Gardens Greenmarket and Borough Hall Greenmarket

Pick up white broad breasted turkeys from DiPaola's. Whole turkeys run $3.39 per pound and bone-in-breast is $6.59 per pound. Call 609-587-9311 to order.

Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket

There are many options for turkey at this large Saturday market. Choose from DiPaola's (see above), Arcadian Pastures, which is selling geese for $7.95 per pound and white holland broad breasted turkeys for $8.95 per pound and Garden of Spice - pasture-raised white broad breasted turkeys are $5 per pound.

Prepared foods to go:

Seersucker is offering a $30 per person menu. You get: 8 oz. of roasted organic turkey and three sides (choose from mashed potatoes, brussels sprouts, mac and cheese and collards with country ham). $20 gets you an 8-inch sweet potato pie.
