What's Open and Closed This Christmas
Your guide to what's open and closed this holiday.
We like to think we have it all wrapped up come Christmas Day, but sometimes we need that last-minute item, bottle of wine or hostess gift.
Here is a list of what is open and closed this Christmas in Carroll Gardens:
- All branches of the Brooklyn Public Library are closed on Christmas
- There is no garbage or recycling pick-up. Garbage will be picked up Thursday morning and recyclables will be collected next week for those whose normal garbage day is Wednesday.
- All government offices, courts are closed and there is no mail delivery.
- Public schools are closed through Jan. 1.
- Alternate side parking is suspended for Christmas Day and meters are off.
- Extra MTA trains are running on Christmas Eve. All subways and trains will be running on a Sunday schedule Christmas.
- All local bank branches are closed Christmas Day.
- Most chains such as Dunkin' Donuts and 7-Elevens, pharmacies like Rite Aid, Walgreens and more will be open.
- Many bars will be open during the holiday and some liquor stores for shortened hours. Call ahead.
