WATCH: Nurses Rally For LICH, Announce First Political Endorsement

Nurses hold rally across from LICH.

On a cloudy Wednesday evening, nurses, doctors and patients gathered with New York City Council Member Stephen Levin at a rally to save Long Island College Hospital.

Members of the New York State Nurses Association from LICH and NYSNA’s executive director Jill Furillo, RN hosted the rally across from the hospital. NYSNA also announced their endorsement of Levin for City Council because of his support for the hospital. It is the first time NYSNA is supporting a candidate for NYC offices.

“Stephen Levin has been an amazing ally in the fight to keep Long Island College open for care,” Furillo said in a release.

The battle to save LICH continues, and nurses, doctors, patients and supporters gathered and rallied with chants directed at SUNY and Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

"What I've seen over the last 6-8 months has been remarkable," Levin said. "You guys have shown that you are willing to stand up. The definition of walking the walk is what I've seen the nurses, doctors, staff and community do."
