Lenten Meditations: A Program of Musical Prayer, Repentance and Redemption

On Saturday, March 29 at 2PM,
sopranos Brooke Bryant and Sally Sanford and mezzo-soprano Cecilia Lam will perform a program of German Baroque music at Zion German Evangelical Lutheran Church, a historic building in the heart of Brooklyn Heights (125 Henry St. in
Brooklyn, NY. Subway: R to Court Street; 2/3 to Clark Street; C to High Street).

Bryant, Sanford, and Lam will be joined by Catherine
Liddell,
lute and theorbo, and Robert
Barney
, who will play Zion’s very special Müller & Abel organ, a unique tubular-pneumatic instrument built in 1901 and still in original condition.

The artists will present a concert entitled Lenten
Meditations
, featuring 17th-century German music by Heinrich
Schütz and Johann Schein. The works on the program reflect Lenten themes of
repentance, self-denial, and redemption, bringing the listener through a cycle
of musical renewal that parallels the spiritual journey of the Lenten and
Easter seasons.

Admission is $10, and tickets are available at the door.  Families are welcome. For advance reservations, please email charites.muse@gmail.com.
